In the last two decades I have been very fortunate to reside in the San Juan Islands enabling me to derive inspiration from the immense beauty and nature which surrounds me. “Like a moth drawn to the light” is a metaphor for the way I am attracted to color and the way light plays upon and in my work. The muted tones of the Northwest landscape are the pallet with which I create the alchemy. Another challenge for me is striving to produce depth and translucency without compromising the spirit of the medium or subject matter. Balance is the key and the ultimate goal. The subjects in both my ART GLASS and ENCAUSTIC PAINTING continues to delve on natural elements found in spirit of nature … trees, rocks, pebbles, water, sea, sun and sky, and their transitions, both in a visual macro and micro realm. The human figure also has peaked my interest of late and my goal is to blend my figurative impressions in meaningful combinations with nature and the human spirit. I continue to work in this arena with the desire of communicating a new visual awareness and sensibility. My hope is that the “voice” of glass, wax, and nature will speak to you through my work in whatever arena you find. |
